If
you're a native English speaker, you can be a much
needed resource in the village Schools of Nepal. You
can teach conversational English. You don't need to
know the Nepalese language and the methods of the
local school teaching. All you need is interest and
a deep desire to teach English to young students.
More and more, English language skills
have become vital to success in almost any profession
in Nepal. Many students in Nepalese communities study
English, but few have the chance to practice with
native English speakers so it's pretty hard for them
to improve. We hope that our English Teaching Volunteer
program can help students grasp basic English which
can provide more security for their future vocations.
How
do volunteers work with English Teaching Volunteers?
On the first few days of your visit, you can explore
Kathmandu Valley. You can learn various aspects of
Nepalese culture - the people and their way of living.
You then travel to the selected site,
which are usually a day bus ride from Kathmandu and
a day's walk from the bus stop or it can be near by
Kathmandu valley. After getting to the selected village,
you may try to involve and share their tradition and
culture; volunteers start their work at selected venue.
Finally, students, parents and local people can see
the difference of volunteers' English teaching method
about the teaching and learning.
This program is focused on the village
schools to teach English to improve students' basic
skill of English as well as helping the school teachers
to develop their conversational English skills and
teaching methods. So, during the working period, you
will stay with local families. Accommodation is simple
and shared with family members. Nepalese traditional
food is taken sitting on the floor with family members.
Hands are use to eat food instead of spoons. You will
enjoy joining in with typical Nepalese family activities
because the system is entirely difference to western
culture.
Some
teaching experience is necessary and a good knowledge
of grammatical English is expected. Please send your

schedule their own program. Even if you are an individual
